Doctor and Grandmama Bass
We think Ann Grace will probably have to stay on oxygen at least at night through the winter. We will find out more next week. But we got to see grandmama so that made our day!

12 months adjusted
Tomorrow would have been the girls birthday......I kept telling myself that this day doesn't matter, wondering when I will let this day go, but the truth is that I have been thinking about it a lot. I am not sure when or if I will ever get over the guilt of having my girls early. It isn't something I talk about or even let myself acknowledge but the feelings are there. The feelings that my body let them down, that I wasn't able to give them what they needed. I know rationally that I didn't have any control but.....well I guess you have to have lived through it. So, this day my due date isn't just another day but a reminder. I hope that next year it will slip by without me noticing. But more powerful than the guilt is the pride I feel in these little girls and how far they have come. They will be officially one year adjusted tomorrow and here is a little about all they are doing....
Ann Grace is... rocking her babies and patting them on the back, she is going to be such a good mother. She is so patient and loves to take care of everything around her. She lets Mamie have her way most of the time but also draws her boundaries when she has had enough. She holds on to you so tight you feel like you are the strength of the world. She loves to be nuzzled on her neck and stomach. She loves her Mama and can call to me when she is tired. She blows kisses, waves and says bye bye. She stands up in the bathtub even though she knows she isn't supposed to and thinks it is funny. When you pull out a snack she acts like she has never eaten before and shoves as much as she can fit into her mouth and then starts choking. She also loves to eat her baby Cheetos by gnawing down on them in order to make as much noise as possible. If she doesn't want food or whatever you are offering she shakes her head "no" as fast as she can. She loves the cell phone and remote. She even knows to point the remote at the TV. She dances all day every day. Her dance moves almost always start with her finger pointed waving in the air followed by shaking her hips and head as fast as she can. She has the biggest grin and most crooked teeth I have ever seen on a baby. She loves anything about a horse. She can rock on the rocking horse all day if Mamie would leave her alone. She laughs so hard at Mamie that I am glad she is already wearing a diaper. It is contagious. She is usually just about 2 inches from Mamie waiting to see what they are going to get into next.
Mamie is.....the best hugger ever. She wraps her arms around your neck and holds as tight as she can. She loves to rub her hands in your hair which feels great until her hand gets caught and then she jerks as hard as she can, laughs and then checks her hand to see what all she got. She tells me to "Stop it" if I tell her not to do something. She loves to hand things back and forth with you while saying "Thank you." She likes to throw things and say "Uh-oh." Everyday while I read to them before their naps she throws everything she can get her hands on as far as she can. She likes to rock the baby that Ann Grace is trying to rock, luckily Ann Grace usually gives it to her and gets another....They sit and put things inside something and take them out, fight over who gets to hold that object and then someone will win (aka Mamie) and they continue to play. They seem to have a system so I leave them alone. They do that with their bottles too. They each take a sip and then switch. She wants to talk on the phone all day but she only wants to say "bye, bye" and hang up. She also waves and blows kisses with a very exaggerated swoop of her arm. She dances all day too. Her moves involve rocking back and forth on all fours. She thinks she can sing and usually when you sing to her she just sings louder than you are. If you ever say Mamie's name she automatically without listening to you says "huh" or "yeah." She is trying to walk but still unsure. She takes about 4 steps and then dives where she is going. They both play peek-a-boo but Mamie gets mixed up when trying to do it fast and will put her hands over her ears. Grandaddy Tripp taught her to give 5 last weekend. She loves to tackle Ann Grace with hugs and kisses.
Guilt or no guilt they are just amazing little people. They have come so far, love so strong. It is amazing to see them grow. Happy Adjusted birthday tomorrow sweet girls.....
